Disabled Youth Camp | Melbourne, Australia

Written by Jay de Graaff

Let’s look back at the exciting Disabled Youth Camp held by the Australian Association in Melbourne earlier this month...

40 guests, carers and volunteers came for a three-day Disabled Youth Camp, located at Camp Manyung in Mount Eliza.

The Order’s Camps welcome guests aged 18-35 years old, with either a physical or mental disability and the activities are designed to challenge our guests, physically, emotionally & intellectually, in a safe, supportive and fun environment.

Activities at Camp Manyung included a giant swing, tree rope course, archery and frisbee golf, as well as daily Masses with our Spiritual Director Fr Paul Nulley and social activities, including the popular camp disco night and campfire night.

One of our guests Vicky, who danced the night away at our disco commented that “It was the best night [she has had] in a long time”.

Not only do our guests have an amazing experience, our volunteers also say they get as much from the experience as those they are supporting.

The Australian Association in Melbourne hopes to make the Disabled Youth Camp a yearly event. To keep up to date with all latest volunteering opportunities and activities please follow their official accounts:
