Young members and volunteers of the Order of Malta

History of involvement with the Order
Since I was a little boy and my father left in a 'weird' black uniform every year at the end of April for five days I was curious what he did. When I became a bit older he explained everything and at the age of 19 (2007) I went to Lourdes for the first time, together with my dad. Since that moment I was hooked to volunteering and went to Lourdes 6 times. In 2011, while in Lourdes, somebody within the Dutch association asked me and some other if I would like to join to volunteer in a camp for disabled in Lebanon. And of course I did, I can easily say that the camps in Lebanon are the best moment evert year since 2011. In 2015 we as Dutch association celebrated our 5 anniversiry and together with two others I organized the Dutch camps this year.
Also in 2011 I was organizer and leader of one of the summer youth camps of the Order in the Netherlands.
In 2014 I participated in the international summer camp as a staff member (since it was in the Netherlands), I see some of the pictures I took during that camp here on the website!
Since a couple of years we are also busy setting up the Maljoh, which is a combined youth organization for Maltezer and Johanniter youth (combined because the country is too small for two separated organizations for youth). Since this year (2015) I am a board member for this organization as well. We are getting there slowly, with charity activities and social events for the youth.
And as everything goes according to plan I will become a Knight in the Dutch association of the Order of Malta in September 2016.
