Young members and volunteers of the Order of Malta
History of involvement with the Order
I grew up on stories of the Order of Malta, as I am Maltese and went to school there.
I left when I was 19 to go to university and during this time I spent a year in Cambridge. Most of my weekends were spent in London where I made friends with lots of lovely people in the Order of Malta Volunteers. I could sing 'Rise and Shine' but never made it to Lourdes.
A few years later I found myself still studying, but in Edinburgh this time. Following my experience of meeting so many lovely OMV people, I joined the committee for the Order of Malta fundraising ball in Edinburgh. This led to meeting my (now) husband who convinced me to join him and his mother on an Order of Malta pilgrimage to Lourdes. He then convinced me to marry him and move to Northumberland, where I am still active in the Edinburgh ball committee and am getting involved in work going on around my new home. I also spend June to April looking forward to our next May trip to Lourdes.
