Summary

Polish Maltese Foundation is looking for volunteers to provide the first medical attention for Ukrainian refugees with spinal cord injury.

Detailed description

Polish Maltese Foundation (Fundacja Pomoc Maltańska - Maltańska Służba Medyczna ) is looking for three volunteers from August 20th onwards to help at a safe house that is being set up in Wolka Cycowska to provide the first medical attention for Ukrainian refugees with spinal cord injury and other disabilities. We are looking for people with a paramedic, nursing, therapeutic or other relevant experience.

The project is done in cooperation with ESCIF (www escif org), the Swiss SCI organization SPV (www paraplegie.ch and www spv.ch ) and the Order's German relief organization Malteser Hilfsdienst (MHD). The facility has about 35 rooms, a dining hall, kitchens etc. and will offer space for the staff, refugees and, if necessary, a quarantine area for COVID-positive guests. The team (physicians, nurses etc.) will come from Germany and Switzerland and will be turned over on a regular basis. We will also professionally transport those patients with hospital needs to one of the over 30 specialized facilities in Switzerland, Germany or Austria. The project is expected to last for at least six months and we are currently expecting 200+ refugees in wheelchairs plus their families from Ukraine.

The Foundation can help you get there from the airport in Warsaw, Krakow, Katowice or any other city in Poland.

The contact person at the Order of Malta in Poland is Mr Rafal Kander.
