Every year, young people from Roma families from our programmes in the country have the opportunity to get to know each other in specially organised camps near Sepsiszentgyörgy, Valcele. In the middle of nature, 60 young people with special needs from Romania and other countries come together to spend time far away from the hustle and bustle of the world, in a space that is perfectly tailored to their needs, in a community that is close to their hearts.
They are supported by dozens of volunteers who organise everything related to the camp, including activities such as workshops, party nights, karaoke, sports competitions, horse riding and many excursions.
The Malteser Camps are one of the rare opportunities where young people with special needs in Romania have a holiday, in a space where they are safe, together with people who understand their needs and help them to gain their independence.
