Summary
We are looking for volunteers with experience in medical service to provide medical care for pilgrims and visitors in medjugorje.Detailed description
The medical services are provided by the association Marijina Pomoc (MP) and its medical and nursing staff. MP is supported by Malteser volunteers.
The main task for the volunteers is to provide first aid to pilgrims around the parish church, on Apparition Hill and on the Cross Mountain. It may also be necessary to care for sick pilgrims in the hotel. After first aid, further treatment is given in the medical station by the doctors and nursing staff.
Patients who come to the medical station themselves are to be registered and cared for until they are treated. If necessary, they are to be transported to the hospital in Citluk.
We are looking preferably for teams with two helpers who are trained as paramedics/rescuers and are willing to travel to Medjugorje for a two-week period. The rescuers should be in good physical condition to be able, for example, to take care of pilgrims who have had an accident on the Cross Mountain.
Even though the Catholic Church has not yet decided on the authenticity of Our Lady's apparitions, Medjugorje is an ecclesiastically recognised place of pilgrimage and as such a place of prayer and great veneration. The mission in Medjugorje can therefore serve not only to care for the pilgrims, but also to give them a personal experience of faith.
The worldwide Malteser community is also represented by Maltesers from e.g. Hungary, Albania, Croatia, Poland or Austria, who also work in the Malteser medical station.
