Summary

Fortnightly, on the 2nd & 4th Sundays monthly, 9am-1pm, Order of Malta Volunteers are welcome to serve food for homeless people through Emmanuel City Mission.

Detailed description

Volunteers are welcome to register an Expression of Interest via the Order of Malta Australia website - Volunteers page.


Each new applicant will be guided through our Safeguarding process.


After which, volunteers can choose to assist on the 2nd and/or 4th Sunday of each month, 9am-1pm, on a fortnightly, monthly or purely when convenient rotation.


We prepare and serve breakfast and lunch, share friendly conversations with and provide essential care items to over 50 homeless or vulnerable people.


We nurture an inclusive and cohesive team spirit, mutually rewarding for volunteers and the local community.

Public transport is available via the nearby Cultural Centre and limited free parking is also available in Merivale Street.

The Australian Association of the Order of Malta is committed to caring for people in need. Our volunteers work with members on both local regional activities and national projects to continue existing activities and identifying and creating new ones. Activities include:
- Camps for Disabled Youth
- Community Care Van teams to distribute our 'Coats for the Homeless' and hygiene packs to the homeless
- Community Care Centers to provide food and services for the disadvantaged and lonely
- Palliative Care support
- Lourdes Day masses where we bring 'Lourdes' to Australia providing blessings and Lourdes water to Australian malades
