Spanish Documentary: "Breakfast in Paris, Dinner in Madrid"
On February 7, 2016, Spanish TV broadcasted a documentary entitled "Breakfast in Paris, Dinner in Madrid." This documentary highlights some of the works of the Order of Malta in Paris and Madrid.
We begin in Paris at the Sainte Elisabeth de Hongrie Church, where volunteers and members of the Order serve breakfast every week during the colder months of the year. This is followed by a visit to the Fleuron Saint Jean in Paris, a boat which provides emergency housing for people and their dog. Up to 1999, there was no such structure that was open to people with their dog. In addition to getting a hot dinner, talking and playing board games with volunteers, the Guests have a private spot to leave their things during the day, they have medical consultations 3 times a week, and medical care by veterinarians is available for their dogs. To finish, the documentary takes us to Madrid, in the San Blas neighborhood where the Order serves dinners. We also see the inauguration of a new establishment of the Order which will serve dinners in the Tetuán neighbourhood.
