Oxford Companions continue summer projects for the homeless
The Long Summer vacation has come to Oxford, which is now much emptier of students than it was two months ago. But as tourist numbers go up, so too do the number of homeless in the city. To meet this demand, the Companions are continuing to conduct regular soup runs, as well as the flagship Saturday Project. The homeless may come here not only for a cup of coffee and a bacon butty, but are also given the opportunity to shave, shower and pick up new underwear. It is also a fine chance for them to catch up with the newspapers or chat with our volunteers – an important reminder that our Lords the poor are more than mouths to feed: they are humans with all the needs of humans. A big thanks to all our volunteers who make this possible!
