Malteser Albania - Summer Camps for disabled children and girls
The Albanian Relief Organisation of the Order of Malta organise summer camps for disabled children and girls near the Adriatic Sea at Velipoja beach. Every year, the organisation organises a one-week summer camp with disabled children and girls. The participating children live in the city of Shkodra and are part of the services provided by the staff and volunteers of the Organization, and the girls who live in the house “Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa” in Shkodra.
Thirty-five disabled children participated in the camp. During this week, the volunteers and staff of the Albanian Relief Organization of the Order of Malta organized lots of different activities: swimming lessons, excursions, games, dancing and various activities at the beach, etc. Boating in the sea and walks on the shore, in the company of volunteers of Malteser, was impressive for these camp participants.
The children and the girls felt very relaxed in the company of the volunteers. This was expressed through video messages that they shared with volunteers. In September, the volunteers will resume their weekly activities with disabled children and the girls who live in the house “Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa”, a program that the volunteers have been doing for over nine years.
