Young members and volunteers of the Order of Malta
History of involvement with the Order
I volunteered for the first time with the Order in summer 2013. It was a "Chabrouh camp". Chabrouh's center was under renovation, thus it happened in Sourat, an other peaceful and sunny Lebanese village. No need to say, it was a life-changing experience.
Each camp lasts a week, we get to meet disabled people, and we cherish them for a week, like "guests" we would be receiving in our own homes. Deep personal bonds arise, and we start seeing our "guests" like our family. Some volunteers back in their countries decided to raise funds to help their one-week guest.
Since this first camp, I had the pleasure to live again and again the Chabrouh-experience those past summers. I have also attended the Lourdes Pilgrimage and Vision 2050 meetings, reunions and webinars.
Today, I organize monthly visits to our "guests" in the different hospitals where they stay, in order to perpetuate the Chabrouh joy all around the year.
